Did you know that...

The Werich Villa is located on the edge of Kampa Park, just a few steps from the Charles Bridge. It is originally a Renaissance house that has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. The villa bears the name of actor and playwright Jan Werich, who lived there after the Second World War and whose films belong to the golden fund of Czech cinema.

The villa which, like the nearby Kampa Museum, is managed by the private foundation of Jan and Meda Mládek, now functions as a cultural centre with a rich program of lectures, concerts and various gatherings. The permanent exhibition commemorates the life and work of Jan Werich and the avantgarde Liberated Theatre, which he founded in 1925 together with his friend Jiří Voskovec. The Werich Villa also houses a renowned pastry shop.
