Did you know that...

Rothmayer's villa belongs to the gems of modern architecture of the 20th century. This two-story family home was built by Otto Rothmayer in 1929-1930 for his family. He was inspired by the Mediterranean tradition and the designs of architect Josip Plečnik. The villa was the center of cultural life, where family friends such as the photographer Josef Sudek and the glassmaker René Roubíček, whose vases decorate the garden, gathered. Nowadays, the villa is considered an important monument of Czech interwar architecture, and thanks to the preservation of the house, interiors and garden, it is also a unique testimony to the working environment, intellectual background and lifestyle of the family. Currently, Rothmayer's villa has been completely renovated and is open to the public for the first time.
