Did you know that...

The Petřín Lookout Tower was built at the end of the 19th Century and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This technically flawless tower is 63.5 metres high and the public observation deck, which offers a unique view of the main landmarks of Prague, is at a height of 55 metres. The neo-Renaissance cellar of the building houses an exhibition dedicated to the urban transformations of the surrounding area. You can reach the lookout tower by means of a scenic cableway or by a pleasant walk through the large park.

The tower consists of a light octagonal steel lattice structure, constructed with 175 tons of iron. The structure’s eight ‘arms’ are anchored in massive stone blocks at the points of an octagon with a diagonal measuring 21.65 m. To get to the top, you have to climb 299 stairs to the observation cabin at a height of 51 m. The total height of the tower is stated to be 63.5 m.
