Did you know that...
The New Mill Water Tower dates back to the 17th Century and is a very valuable technical monument built in the Baroque style. It used to serve as a water reservoir; today it is home to an exhibition about Prague’s firefighters. The observation deck offers a beautiful view of the Vltava River and the wider centre of Prague.
The exhibition’s concept makes maximum use of the possibilities of multimedia. In addition to discussing the specific topics of fire and how to fight it using projected paintings, graphics, photographs and period textbooks for firefighters and fire regulations, visitors also have the opportunity to experience what it was like to life through a large fire in medieval and early modern Prague. Sensory illusions are used to create an impression of the threat t Prague residents in fires that engulfed entire neighbourhoods.
TIP: While you’re in the area, don’t miss the nearby nearby Štvanice Hydroelectric Plant.
